BFLB: INSPIRED BY EXPERIENCE

But First Let’s Brunch was brought about by two young women who moved to a new place and quickly realized that making friends wasn’t as easy as it was in the days of playgrounds and frat parties.

CARLING + SHELLY

We both know the struggle. We moved to Atlanta and then quickly realized that forming a solid group of friends wasn’t going to be as easy as it was in college. With Shelly’s natural ability to connect people and Carling’s frustration at there not being a better way, they decided to create one. But First, Let’s Brunch was born out of the experiences of both women and they want to help other millennials create lasting friendships not only in Atlanta, but other cities as well! We’re excited that you came across this and can’t wait to see you at the next brunch!

After ending the relationship that brought her to this city, Carling took a quick look around and realized she needed to make some friends of her own. After enduring endless meetups, book clubs and running groups, Carling stumbled across Shelly’s casual brunch group and saw the genius in the consistency and simplicity of connecting over a good omelet and a mimosa. She knew there were countless other people who would benefit from something like this, so she collaborated with Shelly and But First, Let’s Brunch was born. Carling graduated from Georgia State University with a BS in psychology and became a Holistic Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Carling loves reading, meditation, being around people she loves and learning new things. Oh, and mashed potatoes.

Shelly Long, co-founder of But First, Let’s Brunch is committed to providing a platform for individuals to meet people and build lasting friendships, all while enjoying brunch! Shelly grew up in Texas, went to College in Florida at Florida Southern College where she earned her Bachelor’s in Communication, a few years later moved to Atlanta where she has built a community of great long lasting friendships and is now heading to Seattle, WA. With encouragement from friends to use the skills she used to establish her own community and help others do the same, But First, Let’s Brunch was born with Carling Kerrigan (one of the biggest encouragers!) in 2017. Shelly enjoys fostering puppies and kittens, baking, traveling and spending time with her friends – especially at brunch!
